I-270 North and Lindbergh Interchange

Major Interchanges

Top image - I-270 North and Lindbergh Interchange, removing loop ramps and building a new interchange with traffic signals at the on- and off-ramps.

Bottom image - I-270 North at Route 367 Interchange, replacing three loop ramps with new geometrics to enhance traffic flow and safety. The new ramp from eastbound I-270 to northbound Route 367 will have two lanes.

Current challenges

Current Challenges

This project is working to address several concerns along the corridor: traffic congestion, aging infrastructure, lack of facilities for non-motorized users, and outdated cross-over slip ramps.

Overview

Project Overview

This is an overview of the I-270 North Project improvements.

Lindbergh interchange reconfiguration

Strip Map 2 of 10

The Lindbergh Interchange will be reconfigured to improve traffic flow and provide access to Dunn Road. Dunn Road will be continuous through the Lindbergh Interchange. A lane will be added to I-270 in both directions, from west of Lindbergh to Route 367. The blue arrows show the direction of traffic flow.

The slip ramp from Dunn Road to westbound I-270 will be improved with a roundabout; giving access for both directions of Dunn Road. Both Dunn and Pershall Road will be converted to a one-way outer road system east of the Hanley/Graham Interchange. The blue arrows show the direction of traffic flow.

The New Florissant and Washington/Elizabeth Interchanges will be reconstructed to improve traffic flow. The New Florissant bridge will be replaced and will include pedestrian facilities under I-270. Pershall Road will be extended between New Florissant and Washington/Elizabeth to make Pershall Road a continuous outer road from Lindbergh to east of Old Halls Ferry. A new u-turn bridge at Washington/Elizabeth allows free-flow travel from Pershall to Dunn Road. A new multi-use path will be constructed along both outer roads for non-motorized travel. The blue arrows show the direction of traffic flow.

The reconstructed West Florissant Interchange includes a new u-turn bridge at West Florissant allows free-flow travel from Pershall to Dunn Road. Pershall improvements include access for Metro buses from the North County Transit Center to West Florissant and the Florissant Valley Community College. A new multi-use path will be constructed along both outer roads for non-motorized travel. The blue arrows show the direction of traffic flow.
