The Project

The I-270 North Project will improve Interstate I-270 North from McDonnell Boulevard to Bellefontaine Road. The Project improves safety and reliability within the I-270 corridor, better links communities, and enhances traffic operations so that the public has a durable and maintainable transportation network. An outdated highway design, deteriorating infrastructure, and traffic congestion are all being addressed by the I-270 North project.

Project Boundaries

The $278 million project directly impacts more than 6 municipalities along the interstate, with combined populations of approximately 135,000. It also sits in a corridor that is critical to local, regional and national movement of goods and provision of services.

The Project

Impacted Resident Data

MoDOT has and will continue to dedicate considerable efforts to engage all stakeholders throughout the corridor including residents, business owners, community officials, industry experts, and workforce diversity partners.

The Project

Aging Infrastructure

Most of the I-270 North infrastructure was constructed during the 1960s, when traffic volumes were much smaller. The Project upgrades include new bridges and reconstructed interchanges, more driving lanes, new pavement, and an updated outer road system.

Updates to deteriorating infrastructure at New Florissant Road (Route N) will include new pavement, signals, and pedestrian facilities.

The Project

High Traffic Volumes

The I-270 North Design Build Project is improving mobility on the mainline, at the interchanges, and on the outer roads.
